Bio
Dr. Kyrie Wilson is a biomedical scientist with a focus on mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) and its role in degenerative diseases. She recently completed her PhD at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she developed a gene therapy aimed at treating disorders caused by mtDNA mutations. Her work bridges basic science and clinical application, driven by a personal commitment to regenerative medicine and translational research. Alongside a strong foundation in science communication and education—ranging from undergraduate instruction to scientific outreach and public engagement—Kyrie has pursued training in innovation and entrepreneurship, an extension of her dedication to seeing research evolve from concept to clinic. At MitoWorld, Kyrie contributes to scientific content development, editorial review, and community engagement, helping to connect researchers, clinicians, and advocates across the mitochondrial field to improve communication, collaboration, and the development of urgently needed therapies.
