Bio
Shannon Weiman earned her PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of California, San Diego, specializing in microbiology and immunology. Since then she has worked as freelance writer for leaders in academic, industry and government research, including Stanford University’s Biomedical Innovation Initiative, the University of Colorado’s Biofrontiers Program, UCSF, the FDA, the American Society for Microbiology and Michelson Philanthropies. Most recently, as Director of Program Development and Scientific Communications at Keystone Symposia, she spearheaded the Keypoint Blog, ePanel programming, marketing and communication initiatives, strategic partnerships across sectors, career development programming and conference portfolio development. As part of the MitoWorld team she looks forward to bringing awareness to the central roles that mitochondria play in diseases ranging from cancer to neurodegeneration and beyond.
